The Solutions to Common Problems Happened in Using Carbon Fiber Impregnating Adhesive

Dec. 13, 2016

The united use of carbon fiber impregnating adhesive and carbon fiber sheet(plate) can compose carbon fiber composite with excellent strengthening system. Carbon fiber impregnating adhesive plays a key role in the reinforcement of carbon fiber material, therefore there are many notes that we should take into consideration:

The viscosity of Component A is high:

1.As sudden drop in air temperatures during construction, the viscosity of the component A will become high. In such condition, it should be preheated to 20~40℃ before using.

2.As sudden drop in air temperatures during winter construction, there occasionally will be crystallization in the component A. In such circumstance, it should be heated to about 30~50℃ for 30min. After dissolving and being mixed up, it can be used, which won’t influence its curing property.

The curing speed of impregnating adhesive is too slow:

1.With drop in temperature, the curing time of structural adhesive will lengthen out. Insulation measures should be adopted.

2.When mixing up component A & component B in a wrong mixture proportion, each components can be weighed by electronic balance.

The curing speed of impregnating adhesive is too fast:

1.The volume of adhesive used for mixing is too much, therefore the amount should be reduced.

2. When mixing up component A & component B in a wrong mixture proportion, each components can be weighed by electronic balance.

3. When under higher temperature, instead of electric drill, mixing up adhesive should be manually operated.

Loose adhesion between the surface of base and carbon fiber sheet:

1. When impregnating adhesive expires its pot life, its viscosity increases, which will cause loose adhesion between the surface of base and carbon fiber sheet.

2. When the temperature is lower, there still is bubble remaining inside the carbon fiber sheet during construction. Before the construction, component A & component B should be preheated respectively.
